What Happens if a Football Match Ends in a Draw?

This guide explains what happens if a football match ends in a draw and how your back and lay bets cover all possible outcomes.

What Happens if a Football Match Ends in a Draw?

If you have placed a back bet and lay bet on a team to win, then you have covered all possible outcomes of the football match, including the draw.

If your team wins the match, then the back bet will win and lay bet will lose.

If the game is a draw or the other team wins, the lay bet will win and the back bet will lose.

Example:

Match: Liverpool v Chelsea

A Back Bet on Liverpool to win would only be settled as a winner if Liverpool win the match.

A Lay Bet on Liverpool to win is a bet on Liverpool to NOT win the match. The Lay Bet would only be settled as a winner if Chelsea win or if the game ends in a draw (so two outcomes are playing in your favour).
