Rugby Basics Explained
This guide explains the basics of rugby, including the differences between Rugby Union and Rugby League, and why it’s important to understand them for matched betting.
Rugby Basics Explained
Rugby is one of the most popular sports in the UK and is split into 2 different codes: Rugby Union and Rugby League.
The story goes that Rugby came about when a schoolboy named William Webb Ellis caught the ball in a game of football and began running towards the goal.
This story though, is widely regarded as a myth by Rugby historians however ,what cannot be disputed is that the school where this supposedly took place, Rugby School, gave the sport its name and the schoolboy Webb Ellis is the name of the World Cup trophy given in the World Cup competition in Rugby Union.
Whilst both codes share the name "Rugby" they are, essentially, different sports and as such you need to be careful not to confuse them - especially when it comes to offers.
There are key differences within the rules and scoring in Union and League explained in the video above.
